Security Landscape Facing New Threats for Last Eighteen MonthsAs per the reports released by Symantec, the security landscape has undergone significant changes with the emergence of server-side polymorphism (or Crime-Ware as a Service). Moreover, security experts state that new threats have prominently emerged on the security landscape in the last 18 months (since May 2007). Vincent Weafer, VP Security Response Symantec, said that the two major changes noticed on the security landscape are increasing complexity or sophistication of the threats and rising volume of new threats. The number of threats has risen to an unprecedented level from one or two viruses to one or two million a month, as reported by ITNews on November 20, 2008.
