Trend Micro Detects New Mac Malware Endangering Mac Users

Advanced Threats Researcher at Trend Micro, Ivan Macalintal, has discovered a new malware that attacks Mac OS, as reported by blog.trendmicro on November 17, 2008.

As per the reports, Mac OS is found infected with a malware named OSX_LAMZEV.A. It empowers a hacker to take control of the targeted system once downloaded from a website.

Security experts have also issued a warning that this backdoor may disguise itself as a legitimate application and loads on the system. Once it is loaded, it encourages user to choose the application and a port above 1024, an Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Vendors use this number to enumerate proprietary applications.ยป SPAMfighter News - 12/4/2008
