Samsung Shipped Malicious Digital Picture Frames

In the 3rd week of December 2008, some people who bought models of digital picture frames from Samsung were cautioned about a six month old system virus installed on the devices, as reported by securityfocus on December 24, 2008.

Samsung claimed that CDs, which had been shipped with several models of its digital picture frames, are likely carrying a harmful Trojan horse software that enables hackers to access the users' system.

As per an alert released by the company in December 2008, the file infecting virus, W32.Salty.AE, was a hacked version of 1.08 of the Samsung Frame Manager Software for Windows XP and already loaded on some of the frames of Samsung, as reported by securityfocus on December 24, 2008.
