Hackers May Launch More Organized Attacks in 2010Internet security vendor 'AVG' has said that 2009 has witnessed an extraordinary rise in volumes of phishing, botnet activity, malware and spam. The same trend is expected to continue in 2010 as well. As per the Marketing Manager of AVG (AU/NZ), Llyod Borrett, in 2010, the threat landscape will look similar to the situation presently exists (in 2009), but will have everything in abundance, more structured and more temporary agile, as per the news report by DYNAMIC BUSINESS on November 26, 2009. As per the security company's estimation, there will be more assorted, automatically produced malware. Now, hackers can automatically produce several thousands of unique pieces of malware every day, much of which has no exclusive signature and can even surpass conventional signature-based exposure software. This has created an urgency that people should have more than just antivirus solution on their system. During 2010, the attackers will continue to target innocent people's resources, identity or money. It is expected that netizens will see even more authentic looking and customized phishing attacks imitating people's bank or other businesses they have accounts with. 2010 will also see the attackers improving the speed with which they are able to move their campaigns from one domain to another domain, from one server to another server. Some of the cyber criminals' gangs have recently enjoyed success in maneuvering the famous online search engines. They are now directly investing more effort in such activities so that they can always get search results at or near the top of the first page results. A major rise in risks (or threats) delivered through emerging countries is also expected during 2010. More and more people in Brazil, China, and India are going online and several of them use pirated software. This makes easy for the attackers to hit those systems, control them and start using them as resources to command their criminal activities. Borrett has claimed that in 2010, security threats will be naughtier than ever, more common and dangerous. As cyber crime and malware solely motivated by planned crime running on a business model, changes are probably motivated by criminals' cost/benefit analysis of dangers and opportunities.
