RapidShare Plans to Fight against Downloading Copyrighted Stuff

RapidShare, a file hosting website, is quite aggressive against the users who download copyrighted stuff through their Web service. It now intends to shatter the series of industry revenues, which will be lost due to the illegal download.

Rapid Share plans to ban and block Internet users, who upload the material which is uploaded as their hobby, and to penalize and make people pay who seek to dowlaod the content for free. RapidShare is to accomplish this task by redirecting users, who were seeking to thieve the copyrighted content onto a Webpage which provided the material, officially, for sale. In fact, to make this act a reality, the Company is scoring deals.

It seems that in the third week of March 2009, the Torrent Freak blog was actually attempting to tell all its readers after alleging that RapidShare sent e-mails to it.

However, the team of RapidShare soon noted these rumors, which then detected a potential phishing attack on their users.

Resultantly, an official statement was issued by RapidShare, refusing the accusations of distributing those forged e-mails, and again restating Privacy Policy.

It was written in the news release by RapidShare that some e-mails created confusion during the past few days, imputing unlawful activities to recipients and expressing that for legal purposes, RapidShare was gathering data against the Privacy Policy. The e-mails also recommended the users to look for legal counsel," as reported by softpedia.com on March 30, 2010.

But, all these e-mails are counterfeited, and RapidShare was not the source of their origin.

Consequently, in case any user has received such an e-mail, RapidShare advises him to immediately contact the Company's support desk as Premium Account of the user might have been 'phished'. Forged e-mails are being delivered to the users, so as to refrain him from communicating with RapidShare.

In order to calm down its users, RapidShare guarantees them that the Company is still not compiling any data regarding files downloaded by users.

RapidShare's users have faced troubles earlier also. At the end of February this year, the users of RapidShare were annoyed when it was compelled by a German court to begin filtering content for 148 book titles.
