Kaspersky Claims that Political Spam Campaigns More Apparent

As per the latest monthly report of Kaspersky, as the year guarantees to be combined with political incidents of international significance, spammers are becoming more active with their spam campaigns. In March 2012, Russia is supposed to elect its president. In April-May (2012), France is supposed to elect their president and finally this presidential election will be held in November by the US citizens.

Last year in 2011, verified that political incidents of various forms are known as territory for its spammers. It became apparent that the quantity of spam involving politics would continue to spread and not really reduce in 2012.

Fundamental spam e-mail in Russia continuously appeared on the RuNet in January 2012, thus urging for a revolt. No specific or substantial mass mailing from the supporters or from any political faction had been registered during January 2012, although Kaspersky suppose to notice them in February 2012, the last month for presidential campaigning.

Disturbingly, the US spammers are also practicing their political stance vigorously. Spam traffic contains spam e-mails, which has a scandalous video of barrack Obama or "unpleasant facts" regarding the current ruling President. Moreover, American spammers had employed disturbing messages while canvassing for potential candidate so that they could end the "Obama era".

In addition to political spam, Kaspersky's new report also shed a light on hackers and phishers continuously exploiting social networking sites and government sites.

The report further says that hacker's the happiest hunting ground is provided by social networking sites. Accounts of various users appear attractive for the fraudsters on these sites with major demand on black market.

E-mails and IMS are high with demand due to their high reputation in underground market. Also registered users on mass media sites are also targeted for attacks." These accounts to some extent on alignment with social networking, which are the actual target of the hackers", the report said, as reported by thehindubuisnessline.com on February 22, 2012.

Even the security firms also observe a seasonal form of attack like taxes. Accounts of registered users of the government sites are also targeted. When tax returns are yet to be filed in the US and the UK, attacks are launched. As the organization of these countries are more preferred targets among all government agencies, as published by a report.
