Scam E-mails Delivering ‘Peter Pan Virus’ Circulating

BH Live of UK is warning of the now described "Peter Pan virus" following numerous Internauts getting a scam electronic mail telling they'd bought tickets for certain pantomime show to be held within Bournemouth (England) during the approaching Christmas, published theguardian.com, September 8, 2014.

It maybe noted that pantomime is a kind of performance art wherein the actor conveys his feelings, actions and emotions through gestures rather than through speech, whilst Peter Pan refers to one made-up character that J.M. Barrie the playwright and novelist from Scotland created.

Innumerable people in United Kingdom and beyond reportedly are recipients of the e-mail referred to as a most persuasive instance of still one more phishing event crafted for delivering malware onto users' machines.

Characteristically, phishing e-mails pose as messages from banks alternatively government bodies such as HM Revenue & Customs, however, the current one has a varied form -it asserts as being dispatched from BH Live a firm selling tickets and that there are 9 tickets the recipient recently bought for seeing a Peter Pan performance scheduled at 7pm on December 23, at Bournemouth Pavilion.

Like always, the e-mail tells that the end four digits provided in the message are of the MasterCard with which the tickets were bought.

A web-link that supposedly leads onto the tickets valuing 145 pounds, in reality, pulls down a virus that infects users' PCs.

Meanwhile, BH Live states that phone-calls have been flooding it ever-since huge numbers of the scam electronic mail arrived.

Plentiful users are telling they're seeing the end-4 digits belonging to their true payment card inside the e-mail, giving an authentic feel to the scam.

However, specialists state the e-mails aren't any BH Live communication rather they're getting dispatched from distant Vietnamese and Korean systems.

BH Live further said that its Information Security panel in collaboration with IT experts as also suppliers had conducted an investigation of the incident followed with confirming that no breach had occurred into its PC-network and that certain familiar SPAM Internet Protocol addresses had been the sources of the e-mails.

Besides, several preventive steps had been adopted so networks, systems and data remained safeguarded.
