Site of National Security Guard Hacked, Lens on Pakistan’s Role

A group, named itself as the 'Alone Injector', hacked website of National Security Guard on Sunday. The hacker defaced the website with foul message targeting PM Narendra Modi. Moreover, an image showing police beating civilians was further uploaded on the homepage of the website with an accompanying text read as "Free Kashmir". Group responsible for the hack might be based in Pakistan because references have been made to ISI, which is agency of intelligence-gathering in Pakistan. Slogans of Pro-Pakistan are also raised. timesof india.indiatimes.com posted on January 2nd, 2017, stating that the website almost immediately went offline ass soon as the authorities came to know about the hack.

NSG headquarters of Manesar maintain the website; and it provides basic information about force, its operations and origin. Officials said that the NIC (National Information Centre) had been informed about hack attack, and "remedial action" had been taken.

NSG was formed as federal contingency unit in 1984 to carry out the counter-piracy and counter-terror operations. NSG personnel called as the 'black cat' commandos, played a significant role to neutralize fidayeen in the Mumbai during 26/11 as well as during the recent attack in Pathankot.

As per official sources, the hack might be done by the Pakistan-affiliated hackers although they are still trying ascertaining the details. As per investigators, the hackers are working for ISI, Spy agency of Pakistan, although they might be based in a different country.

Interestingly, hackers have not brought down the complete website and retained a large amount of contents on the page. As main page got replaced with its message, thus frame having links with other pages remain unaffected.

Cyber attacks and hacking were recently in news, after the hacking group known as Legion made a slew of attacks on official Twitter accounts of Vijay Mallya - absconding businessman, Congress Vice President - Rahul Gandhi, and even INC (Indian National Congress). Abusive tweets were posted by the group from all the above mentioned accounts. They even provided particular details of the absconding businessman, including Vijay Mallya's passport, domestic as well as overseas assets, residency permit of UK, letters and more. They even promised to provide confidential information of Congress party in New Year.
