AV Showed Rootkits Easily Bypass Security Suites & Online Scanners
AV-Test.org, a Germany-based organization engaged in indie security test, conducted two-rootkit tests in April 2008. The first test was carried out on XP Home Edition of Microsoft and the second test was carried out on Microsoft Vista Ultimate Edition. The results were excellent as anti-rootkit tools effectively detected around 80% of the overall rootkits. On the contrary, security suites and online scanners detected 66% and 53% of the rootkits.
