McAfee - Malware to Rise at Cent Percent Rate in 2008

According to McAfee, a vendor for Internet security, there was an increase of over 60% in malware from 2006 to 2007, while a 100% increase is expected from 2007 to 2008. The existing trend for six months shows almost a double increase from 2007 to 2008 in the volume of malware being received.

Dave DeWalt, President and CEO of McAfee, said that in 2007, 40% of the total malware was new. Also on the basis of past computation, an unprecedented 40% of new malware was detected in 2007 alone, as reported by CRN on June 24, 2008.
