Latest Extortion Email threatens to send Hitman unless ransom amount in the form of Bitcoin is paid
The cyber criminals are trying out new extortion emails ideas to victimize the people. The extortion emails are now getting much wilder. Firstly, the cyber criminals began with sextortion scams which threatened to disclose victims doing the dirty deeds on the video. This was followed by the hoax bomb threats that brought worldwide attention of the law enforcement. Now, the recent extortion email by the cyber criminals threatened the email recipient that either he/she pays a ransom amount of $4,000 in the form of Bitcoin or else the hitman will be sent to kill the recipient.
The hitman extortion email began appearing around mid-December of 2018, and the subject line of the email were like "pretty significant material for you right here 17.12.2018 08:33:00". The hitman extortion email content was written in a poor English as well as Grammar. The email content also mentions that the email sender is owner of a site, which offers various types of services for a specific fee, in Dark Web.
The extortion email further says that somebody came to the email sender's site for hiring a hitman, so as to target the email recipient for an "instant and pain-free" execution. However, the sender of the email says that he/she only gets money for completing a project, so he/she decided to provide the recipient an offer for not sending the hitman to kill the recipient. The email sender informs the email recipient that to get spared from the attack, an amount of $4,000 in the form of Bitcoin should be sent to him/her. Moreover, the sender also informs the recipient that soon after getting the amount, he/she will "remove the hitman" as a bonus.
In the extortion email, the sender has also added a bitcoin address. However, till now, no ransom payment has been received in enclosed bitcoin address because of the poor execution and threatening the recipient of physical harm. If the threat of Hitman becomes a terror like bomb threat, then it will also be reported to the law enforcement.
So, the people should be aware of extortion emails like this one. And it is advisable not to respond to these kinds of emails, if they have received any.
